Becoming Muslim Parents: Parenting Among Second-Generation Muslims in Canada

My current research explores how second-generation Muslim Canadian parents—those born or raised in Canada by immigrant parents—are raising their third-generation children. It examines how culture, religion, and identity are passed down. In doing so, this project strives to understand how Muslim families navigate belonging, negotiate assimilationist pressures, and ultimately evolve across generations.

I am currently inviting individuals to take part in a virtual interview for this project. You are eligible if you:

1. Identify as Muslim

2. Were born and/or raised in Canada by immigrant parents

3. Were raised in a Muslim household

4. Are a parent to at least one child

Please be assured that your identity will be kept private.
